Saving Lives Through Spay/Neuter

According to the ASPCA, every year 3-4 million rejected cats and dogs of all ages and breeds are euthanized in the U.S. These numbers are the result of unplanned litters that could have been prevented by spaying and neutering.  The BISSELL Pet Foundation is committed to funding spay/neuter efforts across the United States to help save homeless pets.

We are happy to provide an update from one of our 2013 spay/neuter grant recipients, Pauls Clinic Inc. Short for Preventing All Unwanted Litters, Pauls Clinic has been providing spay neuter services to low-income individuals in Tennessee since 2005.Their mission is to prevent all unwanted litters and by doing so to reduce the number of animals euthanized in shelters and animal control facilities. Pauls Clinic operates in a rural area where many citizens let their pets roam freely increasing the chances of pets producing unwanted litters.  Those litters often are taken to animal control or abandoned in remote areas to fend for themselves.

“This grant has such a positive impact on our spay/neuter assistance program. Most of the individuals we help can’t afford to take their pets to one of the local veterinarians and most likely would never have them fixed if our clinic was not here to help.” Villa Mitchell, President of Pauls Clinic

In December 2013, the BISSELL Pet Foundation awarded a $7,500 grant to provide spay/neuter services to low income individuals. The funds provided from the BISSELL Pet Foundation helped to sterilize 129 cats and 49 dogs like Chloe and Butterscotch.  Thanks to our generous donors and supporters the BISSELL Pet Foundation was able to support the spay/neuter of a total of 178 pets from low-income individuals!
