256 Discarded Breeding Dogs Receive Second Chances
BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident ManagementTM (AIM) team often responds to situations when dogs from large-scale commercial breeders need rescue. Recently, AIM was on the ground in Missouri alongside our partner, National Mill Dog Rescue, to answer an urgent call for help for hundreds of at-risk dogs.
BPF’s AIM team, along with dedicated veterinarians and shelter partners, spent two days providing exams, vaccinations and health certificates to prepare the dogs for transport. The next day, they made their way to BPF shelter partners in Missouri, North Carolina and Virginia.
In many cases, dogs like these that are no longer used for breeding and can’t be sold have nowhere to go. Sadly, they are often discarded. By transferring adoptable pets to our partners, they not only get a second chance, other pets in the shelter also get more exposure. These rescues bring more adopters through the doors, ultimately helping pets already in the shelter find loving homes.
Thanks to your support, BPF can respond quickly when pets’ lives are at stake. Please help BPF’s AIM team to continue our work by making a meaningful gift now. 100% of your gift will impact pets in need.
