BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Founder Cathy Bissell was recently interviewed by Mika Brzezinski and featured MSNBC’s Know Your Value’s “Women in Charge” series. She shared how she found her passion and insight on navigating her career and the best advice for young women.
Cathy found her life’s calling in animal welfare in her 40s after Hurricane Katrina devastated the South in 2005. The animal lover was already making an impact on the pets of her Michigan community while working on the corporate side of BISSELL Homecare Inc. However, after touring shelters and learning more about homeless pets across the country, she became even more inspired and motivated.
“It’s never too late to make a difference,” Cathy shared with Know Your Value founder Mika Brzezinski.
BISSELL Pet Foundation was founded by Cathy to support animal shelters and rescues through grants and other resources. Her efforts have impacted over 380,000 pets since the foundation’s inception in 2011. Nationwide events such as Empty the Shelters, spay and neuter programs, and emergency transports are at the core of Cathy’s mission to end pet homelessness. Read Cathy’s full interview here.
