Like you, I will never forget 2020. My greatest hope is that you and your loved ones are well.

Despite challenges, this year brought out the best in BISSELL Pet Foundation as we worked together with our partners and supporters to ensure our mission would not pause due to the pandemic. I’ve always said BISSELL Pet Foundation is small but mighty, which was true more than ever in 2020. We pivoted quickly to save lives with shelters closed, fundraisers canceled, and social distancing making in-person adoption seemingly impossible. BPF was determined not to let the COVID- 19 crisis become a shelter pet crisis. With your loyal support and encouragement, our lifesaving efforts not only continued but grew. Together, we’ve impacted 307,897 since 2011.

BPF’s response to the events of 2020 included new programs and partnerships to assist the animal welfare community, including significant grant funding to directly address the effects of the pandemic. As we focused on urgent, new problems, we continued our spay/neuter grants, Empty the Shelters events, and response to emergencies to support our network of 5,194 partner organizations. BPF’s impact reached 37,909 pets across the country this year.

I am confident BISSELL Pet Foundation is changing outcomes for deserving pets and overburdened shelters, but there is so much more to do. This year, I visited places that shocked even veterans in animal welfare. I can’t ‘unsee’ the heartbreak, and when I close my eyes at night, the images of hundreds of pets living in horrific conditions haunt me. While it is devastating to see so many forgotten animals, visiting and helping these places is the only way to make a difference. BPF is not afraid to tackle big problems and partner with other groups to get things done. We will never turn our backs when there is a way to help.
