Participating Shelters in BPF's Emergency Empty the Shelters

When Category 4 Hurricane Laura had its sights set on Texas and Louisiana, BISSELL Pet Foundation knew shelter pets would be in its dangerous path. Many southern shelters keep pets in outdoor kennels, and with the threat of historic flooding, they needed help. BPF immediately began coordinating placement for these animals at alternate shelter locations across the country before the storm arrived. We are grateful to our partners who stepped up and opened their facilities to 274 (and counting) pets in need.

On September 10-17, BPF will aim to find these pets a loving home during the Emergency Empty the Shelters (ETS) event featuring the following participating organizations who took in animals from Hurricane Laura:

Indiana

Greene County Humane SocietyLinton, IN

Kentucky

Lexington Humane SocietyLexington, KY

Scott County Humane SocietyGeorgetown, KY

Michigan

Al-Van Humane SocietySouth Haven, MI

Cascades Humane Society Inc.Jackson, MI

Harbor Humane SocietyWest Olive, MI

The Muskegon Humane SocietyMuskegon, MI

New York

The Broome County Humane SocietyBinghamton, NY

Ohio

Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue Cincinnati, OH

During this time, BPF sponsors reduced adoption fees so adopters only pay $25. All adoptable pets a part of this ETS promotion will be microchipped and spayed/neutered. Many shelters are open by appointment only following local COVID-19 guidelines. For more information, visit your local participating shelter’s website!

We are doing all we can to support our partners in this extremely difficult year, and we had not anticipated this event. Your support now will help pets impacted by Hurricane Laura to find homes while allowing us to continue our lifesaving work through the rest of the year.
